Emotional Causes of Fibromyalgia

Too many people these days are experiencing the painful symptoms of Fibromyalgia Syndrome. Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, severe fatigue and disturbed sleep. People with Fibromyalgia experience pain in the muscles, ligaments,
tendons and other soft fibrous tissues in the body.

I have experienced the symptoms of Fibromyalgia for many years. I have managed to keep my symptoms mostly bearable using the healing techniques that I use with my clients. I believe that every dis-ease has an emotional cause. If the emotional cause can be located, the dis-ease can be healed. It has been very difficult to find information on the emotional causes of Fibromyalgia.

I have recently discovered some information that has helped to reduce my pain level and I hope that this information will be helpful to others too.

Those of us with Fibromyalgia usually lead busy, driven, tense and stressful lives. We do not have proper boundaries and lack the ability to balance activity with rest. Many of us tend to be a ‘door mat‘, allowing others to 'step on us'.

We have less tolerance, or patience, which creates a deep inner pain. This represents a repressed resistance to our circumstances, a longing to pull back, as our tolerance for what is happening, whether in ourselves or in our world, is close to non-existent. This affects our entire nervous system causing sleep disorders and pain.

The deep fatigue can indicate a longing to give up, an exhaustion from having to cope or to carry on beyond our limits.

Fibromyalgia implies a loss of purpose or direction and a loss of spirit. It is as if the desire to participate and enter into life has drained away, leaving us without intention or motivation.

Pain can act as a distraction from dealing with deeper emotional pain. Pain restricts our movement, yet physical movement enables expression of our emotions. By not moving, our emotions - the ones trying to find expression through the pain - may become immobilized and stuck.

Pain can be all consuming, causing us to lose touch with who we are apart from the pain. It also keeps us from focusing on issues we would prefer not to focus on.

Muscle pain indicates that psychological pain - such as anger, fear, insecurity, guilt or even self-punishment - are being expressed through the body. It signifies an aching or longing for something or someone. It can also represent a deep desire for movement or change, but also inner resistance to the movement.

Many of the tender spots for Fibromyalgia are located on the back. Since our back is out of reach and out of sight, it is the perfect place to hide emotions or issues that we don't want to deal with. Since we can't see them, neither can others. These hidden emotions can include anger, fear, exhaustion, guilt or lack of forgiveness. Fear of abandonment and being vulnerable can be hidden in the back as well.

Everyone I have talked to with Fibromyalgia report that their symptoms get worse when in stressful situations. When we are stressed, our muscles become tense, which causes the increase in pain.

When you experience pain, ask yourself what movement you would really like to make. Are there any benefits from the pain, such as extra attention or not having to do certain things. What are you really aching for? What does your body need you to do to release the tension? Do you need to scream, cry, change direction, hold someone close or push someone away?

Is there something or someone, that you have pushed away that you need to acknowledge and accept? Are you pushing back your feelings? Is something holding you back from moving forward? Are you so busy dealing with your obligations to others that you have little time for yourself? Would you really like to say to others "Please look after me, give me some nurturing and caring."?

The sleep disturbances are related to issues of Trust. We must trust that it is okay and safe to let go and relax. We must trust that the world will be ok without us.

These are some of the issues I have found that cause the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. I am sure that there are many more that I have missed, but this is a good start so that each of us can begin to heal.

There are many techniques for healing emotional dis-ease. The ones I use the most are the 'Feelings Prayer' and 'Spoken Word Healing'. Use these techniques to heal the issues above which resonate with you and your symptoms.

Feelings Prayer

This is my latest version of the 'Feelings Prayer' which can be used for any issue or dis-ease. Use these techniques to heal the issues above which resonate with you and your symptoms.

"Spirit go throughout time and locate all causes, signs, symptoms, side-effects, predispositions to and damage from (___negative emotion or issue____) and any similar feeling, thought or emotion. Take my Higher Self and every aspect of my being to the very first incident that caused this feeling or thought to start. Analyze every aspect of it and heal it permanently and completely. Move forward and backward through time, through my Ancestry and through my Spiritual Lineage until I am at the present filled with Light, Truth, Peace and Love. I am (___positive emotion or issue___). Know that every

negative thought and inappropriate behavior based on this old feeling or thought quickly disappears. Take all the time you need, Spirit, but quicken time and do the job now. Thank you Spirit."

Spoken Word Healing

This is a healing technique that I created and have had tremendous benefits from.

"I thank my Master Healers for removing all causes, signs, symptoms, side-effects, predisposition to and damage from (_negative emotion or issue_) from all my bodies on all levels sending it to the Violet Flame for transmutation, replacing it with (__positive emotion or issue__)".

There are two ways you can use this statement. Using a pendulum, start it swinging in a counterclockwise direction as you start saying your statement. Continue to repeat the statement until the pendulum changes to a clockwise direction to let you know the healing is complete. You can use your pendulum to see how often you need to do the statement. You can also just repeat the statement several times or until you feel it is complete. Usually, you will let
out a sigh when the energy has shifted.
